PoC for automated vision verification on SpoutBox A vision inspection machine that checks cardboard boxes containing medical products. It was designed and assembled in-house by Automate Partner and delivered to a pharmaceutical production company in Denmark.
Each box is inspected in three stages using a total of four cameras and seven light sources. The unit was built to fit the limited space available in the customer’s production line.
Vision Setup
Two cameras placed at opposite corners, each inspecting two sides of the box, so all four sides are covered; every camera has its own light source plus an additional light at the near corner (four lights in total);
One camera inspecting the top of the box with two dedicated light sources;
One camera reading the label with its own dedicated light source.
Technical details
-
Industry
Pharmaceutical production. The machine does not touch the product directly, but it still operates under strict hygiene and sanitation requirements.
-
Construction
Fully stainless steel AISI 304 – welded tube chassis, doors and hinges. No plastic and no aluminium; the only non-metal parts are the glass lenses for camera and light enclosures.
-
Welding
Full fillet-bead welds throughout, so there are no gaps or contamination areas.
-
Hygienic design
Sloped roof so washing liquids run off in one direction; no gaps, water traps, holes or hard-to-reach spots; external hex-head screws only (no socket/Allen heads that collect dirt).
-
Washdown
Cameras and electronics are rated IP67 or higher, so they withstand washing and sanitation procedures.
-
